Shane had an engaging way of teaching. Friends say his style was clear and heartfelt. He believed that anyone could understand anything if it was explained clearly.
As an elder, he was especially known for being a good listener. One brother said: “You could always count on Shane for a listening ear that would never judge. Shane was a true friend in times of distress.” That same thoughtful spirit showed in his talks.
