Shane was a good man. He trained me in many aspects of cleaning in Standish Cleaning back in 2000. My approach to what I thought was menial work was quickly and righteously rebuked in his own Shane-like manner. He always had a way of highlighting the spiritual connection of our work no matter how menial the job seemed. He often highlighted how our assignment of cleaning supported the preaching work and glorified jehovah. Yet, he had such a good sense of humor and reasonableness to his approach to work too. Interestingly mature for his age.

A funny saying he used to tell me when a job was not complete went something like: “If the job doesn’t get done just remember that the most important job WILL get done, Jehovah’s sovereignly will be vindicated and his name sanctified. I still use that with the people I work with in Korea bethel.

I know that I did not keep in touch with Shane often but his example affected me in such a positive way.

May we live up to the example Shane set for us, who faithfully followed Christ’s footsteps closely. Our spiritual relationship with Shane is an everlasting bond.

“Perhaps this is really why he broke away for a short while, so that you may have him back forever.”-Philemon 15 (study note)
